The work of a good heretic is not to mould the political will of others; it is, through the analyses that he/she does in his own field,
- to re-examine evidence and assumptions
- to shake up habitual ways of thinking
- to dissipate conventional familiarities, and
- to re-evaluate rules and institutions.

His/her real political task is to criticize the workings of institutions that appear to be both neutral and independent, to criticize and attack them in such a manner that makes visible what type of assumptions, familiar notions, established and unexamined ways of thinking the accepted practices are based upon.

We need a constant reflection and social critique to loosen things that have become prematurely or ideologically solidified. The work of a good heretic is to make harder those acts which are now too easy.
